Warner Bros. makes Godzilla Vs. King Kong Official
15 October 2015
Word arrived last month that Legendary Pictures was in talks with Warner Bros. to move Kong: Skull Island to its former production partner from Universal. The reason: to set up a possible smack-down, or a team-up between our favorite beasts King Kong and Godzilla. It's all now official, confirmed and announced by the studio.
A movie called Kong: Skull Island is the current idea and plan to execute. The plan is for Jordan Vogt-Roberts is about to start shooting it. The movie has to arrive on March 10, 2017, followed by the Godzilla sequel in June 2018 and Godzilla Vs. Kong in 2020.
According to the studio: "All-powerful monsters become towering heroes for a new generation, revealing a mythology that brings together Godzilla and Legendary’s King Kong in an ecosystem of other giant super-species, both classic and new. Monarch, the human organization that uncovered Godzilla in the 2014 film, will expand their mission across multiple releases,” It now definitely looks like Warners and Legendary are trying to breed another shared universe.
The use of the word “heroes” easily makes us think that we could be in for another Batman V Superman movie along the lines. What's more excitingly, this could also lead to Godzooky’s introduction into the film.
So there you have it: the moment many of us have long been waiting for - a new Kong/Godzilla movie. I sure hope they do us proud!
